Flipkart, the world’s largest e-commerce company, plans to generate one lakh new jobs in India ahead of the autumn festival season as it expands its fulfillment center network. The company is gearing up for its flagship sale event, ‘Big Billion Days 2024,’ which will feature big discounts on a variety of fashion and lifestyle products.

“With its commitment to socio-economic development, Flipkart remains focused on enabling employment opportunities, creating over one lakh new jobs within its supply chain across the country,” Flipkart stated in a statement, according to India Retailing. “This aims to strengthen Flipkart’s operational capabilities while empowering local communities and driving economic growth during this year’s festive season.”

The Walmart-owned company has also opened 11 new fulfilment centres in nine Indian locations, bringing the total number of fulfilment centres in India to 83 ahead of the forthcoming festive season. The company plans to generate a big number of seasonal employment to meet increasing demand during the season.

Flipkart plans to generate the majority of its new jobs across its supply chain verticals. They will comprise warehouse personnel, logistics coordinators, delivery drivers, inventory managers, and Kirana retail partners. Flipkart also intends to run skill training sessions to equip its new employees for the festive season.
