The stars of the upcoming film Barbie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, made their red-carpet debut together at CinemaCon to promote the movie that is set to be released in July. The film has been in development for several years and experienced many delays and false starts before Robbie was announced as the lead in 2019. The movie promises to have a star-studded cast that includes Helen Mirren and Dua Lipa. The trailer has received a lot of positive feedback from fans, and a shot of Barbie taking off her heels and keeping her toes pointed has gained particular attention. However, Gosling’s casting as Ken has drawn criticism from fans who believe he is too old for the role at 42 years old.

In terms of fashion, Robbie donned an eye-catching gingham Prada set, paired with Louboutin shoes and a Chanel anklet. Gosling stood out in a hot pink jacket and shirt, customised with director Greta Gerwig’s name in the iconic Barbie font. The duo, along with Gerwig, were present to talk up the film ahead of its release.

Barbie has been in development since 2009 and suffered several setbacks with actresses Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway previously attached to play the lead role. The movie will take a tongue-in-cheek approach to the iconic dolls with adult jokes about the characters’ life thereof. The all-star supporting cast has been well-received, but some fans are still critical of Gosling’s casting as Ken.

The film’s trailer provides a sneak peek into what’s to come and has been praised for its humor and playful take on the classic toy. Despite the delays, the movie is set to be released in Australian cinemas on July 20, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release.
