New York Fashion Week is about to get a vibrant injection of Thai style. “One Night in Bangkok,” a group runway presentation, will showcase the talents of four dynamic Thai designers on February 11th at Ideal Glass Studios. The event, a collaborative effort by the Thai Trade Center New York, the Ministry of Commerce Thailand, and the Future Treasure, promises to be a feast for the eyes.

Fashion insiders can anticipate a curated selection of looks from Vinn Patararin, Matter Makers, Merge, and Vickteerut. The show, orchestrated by Tan Sawaddichai and styled by Sarunrat Panchiracharoen, aims to boost Thai fashion’s presence in the U.S. market, capitalizing on the booming global interest in Thai design. This comes as the Thai fashion e-commerce market anticipates a surge in growth, with projections estimating a $276.4 billion market volume and 18.1 million users by 2029, primarily driven by Chinese consumers.

Vinn Patararin, the brainchild of architect Vinn Chokkhatiwat and artist Patararin Pongprasit, blends architectural precision with artistic flair. Pongprasit’s experience includes training at Studio Berçot and internships with fashion giants like Azzedine Alaïa, while Chokkhatiwat honed his skills with Iris van Herpen. Their creations have graced the wardrobes of style icons like Troye Sivan, Timothée Chalamet, and Charli XCX.

For a dose of street-ready cool, Matter Makers, launched in 2023 by Bordin Aphimarn, will present its bold streetwear aesthetic. The brand has already garnered attention through collaborations with names like I Wanna Bangkok, PZ Today, and Hello Kitty. Merge, an inclusive and body-positive label, will showcase its denim designs, courtesy of designer Ponpavee Danmingyenvong.

Rounding out the quartet is Vickteerut, the most established of the four, founded in 2007 by Aurapraphan “Pang” Sudhinaraset. Sudhinaraset, a stylist with degrees from Chulalongkorn University and the University of Westminster, champions minimalist designs. The show promises a diverse range of styles, from couture-infused creations to cutting-edge streetwear, highlighting the breadth and depth of Thai fashion talent.
