And just like that, fall is basically around the corner. I get the hesitation if you’re not ready to do a deep dive into full winter coat talk just yet!
But the best part about the trends we’re seeing for the upcoming season is that they’re not only fun, but easily wearable, and can brighten up the coldest of days.
The Great White Tank
Designers are going back to the drawing board. And leaning into the power of a great white tank top. Perhaps throw a logo on it? Or keep it bare. But the point is, this must-have pairs well with just about everything and there’s a certain power in its ease. Ever tried too hard and looked longingly at the girl in jeans and a tank top wishing you’d done less?
Slick New Hoods
Hoods – and not the ones attached to your favourite loungewear – have been creeping into some of the world’s chicest wardrobes over recent months, but as of autumn we’re all going to be wearing them. Ideal on those days where a morning hair wash just doesn’t fit into your alarm-snoozing agenda, these are generally slim-fit, knitted numbers and look particularly great with a full monochrome look.
Fashion is nothing if not perverse. After miniskirts dominated the spring catwalks, lengths fell to the floor for autumn. Body-swamping maxi coats, many in dressing-gown cuts and faux-fur fabrics, were mainstays in numerous collections; but it’s the floor-sweeping maxi skirts and dresses that caught our eye, injecting silhouettes with serious drama at The Row, Saint Laurent and Altuzarra.
