Archroma has introduced SILIGEN® D2W LIQ C, the first truly durable silicone softener for cotton and cotton-lycra knits. This innovation is designed to preserve both silky softness and absorbency over extended use, ensuring garments remain luxurious and comfortable for longer.
Traditionally, softeners either compromised fabric absorbency or quickly washed out during laundering. SILIGEN® D2W LIQ C addresses this challenge by maintaining absorbency while delivering long-lasting softness. It is suitable for a wide range of textile and apparel applications including undergarments, sleepwear, babywear, dresses, trousers, T-shirts, activewear, and towels.
The breakthrough is powered by Archroma’s patent-pending micro-x technology, a cross-linkable microemulsion that locks the silicone into fibers, creating a durable, wash-resistant finish without yellowing or side effects. It is also compatible with anionic components and easy-care resins, enabling functional finishing combinations such as crease resistance.
Dhirendra Gautam, VP Global Marketing and Strategy, Archroma, said:
“Archroma is committed to innovation that furthers our planet conscious vision of the future of the apparel and textile industry. SILIGEN® D2W LIQ C is a breakthrough innovation that enables a new approach to softening. By enhancing both durability and cotton hand feel, it reduces the need for frequent replacement of garments to conserve resources, minimize waste and lessen the environmental impact of the industry.”
For the first time, Archroma has also developed an objective method to measure softness durability by tracking elastic recovery in fabrics through multiple wash cycles. This new standard allows mills and brands to validate and quantify long-lasting handfeel with transparency.
With SILIGEN® D2W LIQ C, Archroma sets a new industry benchmark for softeners—supporting both fashion and textile players in designing garments that combine premium comfort with sustainability.
