Apollo Hospitals has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Ion Beam Applications (IBA) to bring the next-generation Proteus One Proton Beam Therapy system to India. The agreement was signed in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, symbolizing strong international cooperation in healthcare innovation.

This partnership strengthens Apollo’s pioneering role in cancer care, having first introduced Proton Therapy to India in 2019 through its Chennai-based Apollo Proton Cancer Centre—the only such facility in South Asia and the Middle East. Since then, over 2,000 patients from 147 countries have received treatment.

Proton Therapy is a highly targeted approach to treating complex cancers, particularly those of the central nervous system, head and neck, paediatrics, and urology. The introduction of the Proteus One system, which features the latest DynamicARC® technology (pending regulatory approvals), aims to further enhance treatment precision and patient outcomes.

Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, emphasized their mission to make cutting-edge care accessible, while Dr. Preetha Reddy highlighted the vision of advancing personalized and precise cancer treatment.

The initiative also promises expanded knowledge-sharing and oncologist training, advancing cancer treatment across the region. With this step, Apollo reinforces its global leadership in Proton Therapy and commitment to making next-gen cancer care widely available.
