Anamika Khanna closed Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2026 with a compelling showcase under her label AK|OK, setting a strong tone for the season with a collection rooted in fluidity, versatility, and expressive craftsmanship.
Presented in Mumbai, the collection explored adaptable fashion through garments designed for multiple styling possibilities. From draped dhoti pants and asymmetric ruffled tops to co-ord sets and floor-length gowns, the silhouettes balanced comfort with statement appeal, offering a wardrobe that transitions seamlessly across occasions.
At its conceptual core, the collection embraced the beauty of imperfection. Drawing inspiration from the idea of something seemingly misplaced yet naturally evolving into belonging, the designs incorporated hand-painted textures, asymmetry, and unfinished elements. These details transformed irregularities into poetic expressions, redefining conventional notions of beauty.
Nature-inspired motifs and bold floral graphics were interwoven with intricate hand embroidery, 3D embellishments, and gold zari work. The interplay of these elements created a layered visual narrative that merged softness with structure and craft with experimentation.
The colour palette moved thoughtfully from soft ecru and warm browns to dusty pinks and deep blacks, building a sensorial progression that enhanced the collection’s emotional depth while allowing the silhouettes and detailing to stand out.
A key highlight this season was the introduction of menswear within the AK|OK universe. The menswear pieces mirrored the label’s relaxed yet refined aesthetic, expanding its design vocabulary while maintaining coherence with the women’s line.
Speaking about the collection, Anamika Khanna said,
“Our new collection celebrates Indian women in all shapes and sizes, and we have also focused on sustainability in fashion through our carefully selected fabrics, colours and crafts. This season, we are presenting a line of fluid garments through flattering silhouettes and glamorous finish for occasion wear and red carpet looks. The newest addition is our statement-worthy menswear range, which is a perfect add for a modern men’s wardrobe.”
With its emphasis on fluid silhouettes, emotional storytelling, and versatile design, the showcase reaffirmed AK|OK’s approach to contemporary Indian fashion—where individuality, craftsmanship, and adaptability coexist.
