  • Air India-Kenya Airways codeshare partnership complements existing interline partnership
  •  ‘AI’ code on Kenya Airways’ Nairobi-Mumbai service, ‘KQ’ code on Air India’s Delhi-Nairobi service
  • One-stop connectivity to passengers from Kenya to Southeast Asia and Australia via Mumbai, and vice versa

In a codeshare agreement, Kenya Airways, a top African airline, and Air India, India’s top international airline, reaffirmed their dedication to facilitating smooth travel between Africa and India and beyond. The two carriers’ current interline arrangement is enhanced by the codeshare partnership.

Together, the codeshare and interline agreements give customers of both airlines easy access to a greater number of locations throughout different areas, utilizing a single ticket and a single baggage policy for a hassle-free journey.

The codeshare agreement calls for Air India to install its “AI” designator code on Kenya Airways’ twice-daily flights between Nairobi and Mumbai. This will allow passengers on Air India-operated flights to or from Bangkok (Thailand), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Malé (The Maldives), Melbourne (Australia), and Singapore to easily connect via Mumbai. When traveling from Nairobi to Delhi with Air India, passengers may also take advantage of the existing connections to a number of other locations both inside and outside of India.

Kenya Airways passengers from all over Africa can now fly to Delhi via Nairobi thanks to the new agreement, which also permits Kenya Airways to use its “KQ” designator code on Air India-operated flights between Delhi and Nairobi.

The Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, Nipun Aggarwal, stated, “Deepening our partnership with Kenya Airways is perfectly aligned with Air India’s strategic vision of expanding our global footprint and strengthening our position in key markets.”The guests of both airlines will greatly benefit from our codeshare partnership, which will also help to expand air travel between India and Africa in general.”

Through the interline agreement between Air India and Kenya Airways, travellers can easily travel on a single itinerary between any of 15 locations in India (including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad) and any of 28 locations in Africa (Accra, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam, Harare, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Seychelles, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, and Zanzibar, to mention a few).

“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Air India, which will provide our passengers with a wealth of opportunities.” According to Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, “this codeshare agreement enables us to offer seamless connections to a wider range of destinations across both airlines’ networks, making travel easier and more convenient.”

Kenya Airways and Air India intend to gradually expand the codeshare arrangement to include additional destinations in respective networks.

Bookings for the codeshare flights can be made through travel agencies and the relevant booking channels for Kenya Airways and Air India.
