In a significant development for the Australian fashion industry, Australian Fashion Week (AFW) has secured a crucial partnership with the New South Wales Government. This collaboration ensures the continuation of the prestigious fashion event, scheduled to take place from May 12th to 16th, 2025.

The NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, will work closely with the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) to shape the future of AFW. The partnership aims to strengthen the event’s international profile, provide valuable opportunities for local designers, and foster industry growth.

AFW founder, Simon Lock, will play a pivotal role in delivering the 2025 event. His expertise and industry connections will be instrumental in curating a program that resonates with both domestic and international audiences. Lock will collaborate with the AFC to assemble a team of fashion industry experts who will contribute their knowledge and skills to the event’s success.

The decision to part ways with former partner, IMG, marked a turning point for AFW. However, organizers remained steadfast in their commitment to delivering a world-class fashion event. The new vision for AFW emphasizes industry-led initiatives and a stronger focus on global opportunities.

Jaana Quaintance-James, CEO of the AFC, expressed enthusiasm about the government’s support. She highlighted the potential of AFW to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and elevate the Australian fashion industry. By working closely with Destination NSW and industry partners, the AFC aims to create a more impactful and sustainable event for designers and the broader creative economy.

As AFW enters this new chapter, industry insiders and fashion enthusiasts alike eagerly anticipate the 2025 event. With the backing of the NSW Government and the expertise of the AFC, AFW is poised to solidify its position as a premier fashion platform and continue to inspire and empower the Australian fashion community.
