Consumers will soon have access to a wide range of Nike products in Macy’s stores for the first time since the brand’s apparel contract with the retailer was terminated in 2021.
Nike products will return to Macy’s physical stores and website in October, according to Macy’s CEO Jeff Gennette on a conference call with analysts. In December 2021, Nike called time on its clothing partnership with Macy’s as it concentrated on its own DTC channels and terminated relations with several wholesale partners.
“We’re committing to a long-term partnership together,” Gennette remarked. “For our customer, it’s one of the most significant brands. Numerous customers expressed disappointment that we didn’t carry it throughout the previous year.
Through a Finish Line agreement, Nike has had a footwear relationship with Macy’s since 2021. However, a wider range of clothing and accessories for men, women, and children will be made publicly accessible in stores and online this autumn. The Finish Line connection will still be utilised for shoe sales.
The renewed cooperation comes as Nike steadily makes a comeback after suddenly ending key wholesale relationships in 2021. Foot Locker expected that there would be significantly less Nike merchandise in its stores last year as Nike accelerated its switch to direct-to-consumer sales. However, the shop reversed direction and said in March that Nike will remain its premier brand moving ahead.
