The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) marked its 47th Foundation Day with a celebratory event at its headquarters in Apparel House, Gurugram. The occasion was attended by senior functionaries and staff members and featured a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and cake-cutting.
AEPC Chairman, Shri Sudhir Sekhri, emphasized the council’s dedication to representing the apparel industry and exporters, highlighting its continuous efforts in advocating for industry concerns with the government. He credited AEPC’s aggressive policy engagement for the sector’s growth, with apparel exports witnessing an 11.6% increase from April 2024 to January 2025 despite global uncertainties.
AEPC Secretary General, Shri Mithileshwar Thakur, noted significant growth in key markets such as the USA (13.8%), UK (8.9%), Germany (10.6%), and Spain (19.7%), along with promising expansion in FTA partner countries like South Korea, Japan, Australia, Mauritius, and the UAE.
AEPC extended its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, and Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal for their unwavering support. Initiatives such as PM MITRA, PLI, RoSCTL extension, FTAs, and skilling programs have significantly contributed to the sector’s progress. Additionally, recent government measures, including the Export Promotion Mission, Bharat-Trade-Net digital platform, and enhanced credit support for MSMEs, are expected to further boost growth.
Looking ahead, AEPC aims to expand the global reach of Indian apparel exports by exploring new markets and promoting sustainability. The council continues to drive industry transformation through market intelligence, trade facilitation, participation in global events, and policy advocacy.
AEPC also launched a social media campaign to raise awareness about its initiatives and government-backed support for the apparel sector. The Executive Committee members congratulated all AEPC employees on another year of achievements, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening India’s position in the global apparel market.
