Wrogn, a clothing line owned by Universal Sportsbiz Private Limited and inspired by cricketer Virat Kohli, is in talks to be acquired by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited.
According to an unnamed source familiar with the situation, “the talks with Aditya Birla are in advance[d] stages,” according to India Retailing. Another source claimed that Universal Sportsbiz has been considering selling Wrogn for some time. It has held preliminary discussions with Mukesh Bansal, the founder of Dream11 and Myntra, but these have not progressed past basic discussions.
According to the brand’s Facebook page, Virat Kohli co-created Wrogn, which sells men’s apparel, accessories, and shoes. To diversify its product offering, the company has introduced a range of motorcycle helmets under the moniker “Wrogn Armour” that is available only on Flipkart.
With 350 points of sale throughout 144 Indian cities, Universal Sportsbiz Private Limited manages a number of brands, including Wrogn and Single. There are 45 unique brand locations for the company all over India.
In 2012, Anjana Reddy founded Universal Sportsbiz Private Limited with the intention of collaborating on fashion collections with various celebrities. Sachin Tendulkar, a cricket player and media personality, has invested in the company.
