Adidas, the renowned international sportswear brand, is in the process of establishing its first Global
Business Services hub in Asia outside of China, right in Chennai. This strategic move aims to leverage
India’s skilled software workforce for managing crucial business processes. Spearheaded by Akhil
Kapoor, the Vice President of Global Business Services global procurement and head of Global
Business Services India, this hub will oversee vital operations like source-to-pay, financial planning
and analysis, invoice-to-cash, and record-to-report.
According to sources familiar with the development, the Chennai hub will serve as the primary Global Hub, seamlessly integrating with Adidas’ existing hubs in Porto (Portugal), Dalian (China), Bogota (Colombia), and North America, catering to the company’s global operations. Over the next three to five years, Adidas plans to continue investing in this Chennai hub, fostering further growth and development.
While Adidas already has a corporate office in Gurgaon, this move marks their first venture into establishing a global capacity centre in India. This significant decision to set up a global hub in Chennai is anticipated to substantially contribute to Tamil Nadu’s portfolio of global capacity centres, aligning with the state government’s focus on developing this sector.
