Adidas plans to hold a soft launch of its new store in Gulshan-1 on 11 May, with a formal launch event featuring the Regional Managing Director.

Adidas will open its first outlet in Bangladesh at Gulshan-1 in May. Vice Chairman of DBL Group, MA Rahim Feroz, confirmed a soft launch on May 11th, with a formal launch to follow with the presence of Adidas regional Managing Director.

Adidas will collaborate with DBL Group, Bangladesh’s top apparel manufacturer. DBL Group has previously introduced Puma, Nike, and Levi’s to the country.

DBL Group currently manages five Puma stores in key areas like Banani, Dhanmondi, Bashundhara City, Gulshan Unimart, and Chattogram. They also have a Nike store in Banani and a Levi’s outlet in Dhaka, with future expansion plans, including in the port city.

With annual sales in the local apparel market surpassing $15 billion, international brands are looking to enter the market. DBL Group aims to strengthen its brand image by partnering with global giants. The company has seen a 10% year-on-year sales growth under the Puma portfolio, leading to importing 15% of high-end products to cater to local demand.

DBL Group targets high-end customers in Bangladesh as the economy grows and demand for international brands rises. DBL Group avoids offering discounts to customers despite high prices, citing import duties and taxes ranging from 100% to 125%.
