The Baltic countries, which are only 1,000 kilometers from the conflict that has been raging in Eastern Europe for more than two years, have a rich cultural legacy as a result of years of russification policies that had a significant impact on the region’s culture and society. These effects are evident in the proposals’ aesthetics and the attendees’ propensity for speaking Russian in conversation. In addition to their native tongues, a sizable portion of the populace in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia speaks Russian.
