Marc Jacobs has collaborated with graffiti artist Futura to create a special-edition capsule collection to commemorate the American fashion brand’s 40th anniversary.
This is the ninth installment of a yearlong series in which the brand’s friends and collaborators reinterpret their favorite Marc Jacobs creations.
The collection debuts with a global campaign starring superstar J Balvin, model Paloma Elsesser, and Futura himself, presenting the artist’s recreation of iconic Marc Jacobs pieces such as The Tote Bag, The Snapshot, unisex jeans, hoodies, and other ready-to-wear goods and accessories. Renell Medrano photographed the campaign, while Milton Dixon III styled it.
Futura, a pioneer of New York’s 1980s “Subway School” of graffiti, first worked with Marc Jacobs in 2022 on a project benefiting Free Arts NYC, a non-profit that uses art to empower marginalized youngsters. The two New York natives share a strong affinity for art, creative expression, and the downtown New York attitude.
On September 8, the Bronx Museum will open Futura 2000: Breaking Out, the largest exhibition of Futura’s work ever seen in New York City, along with pop-up venues in New York, London, Beijing, and Japan throughout the month.
