In the district of Hooghly, West Bengal, Priyanka Mallick, a budding fashion designer hailing
from a village, has crafted a unique attire for Queen Camilla and a brooch for the
forthcoming King Charles III of Britain. The Royal Family has acknowledged her talent and
invited her to the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London, set to take place
on Saturday. It is her wish that both the Queen and King would choose to adorn her designs
for the occasion.

Mallick shared her happiness and excitement, saying, “It was a fantastic feeling when I
learnt that Queen Camilla and King Charles III appreciated my designs of the dress and
brooch. The letter of appreciation I received is a dream come true, and it means a lot more
to me than just one email or letter from Buckingham Palace.”

Despite receiving an invitation to attend the coronation ceremony, Mallick cannot travel
because her health prohibits her from doing so. However, she may attend the function that is being organised on this occasion by the British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Saturday evening.

The young designer hails from the Badinan village, about 12 km away from Singur railway station in Hooghly district. She made contact with the Royal Family’s delegates to communicate her interest in creating a gown specifically for Queen Camilla, subsequently submitting her design. The design was appreciated, and she received the letter of appreciation.

According to Mallick, nobody from her village has congratulated her on her remarkable
achievement yet. She believes that this might be because they are unaware of what is
happening. She completed her class XII from Singur Golapmohini Girls HS School and
graduated in Fashion Design from Milan University in Italy online; she also completed her
Masters’ Degree from there.

Having earned accolades such as triumphing at the International Fashion Designer
Marathon held in Milan, Italy in 2019, being bestowed the title of Fashion Stylist of the Year
in Milan, Italy in 2020, as well as securing the Real Super Women Award in India in 2022,
the young fashion designer’s creations featured in the special event for the Coronation will
also be unveiled on the website of the British administration.
