Jeanologia Brings New EIM and COMMON GROUND to Kingpins Amsterdam

Jeanologia presents the new generation of EIM alongside COMMON GROUND, a creative collaboration with Sue Barrett exploring nature, camouflage, craft and technology.

Jeanologia is bringing two different perspectives on the product to Kingpins Amsterdam. The event, held on October 14–15, brings together key players from the international denim and textile community.

The company will use the event to present the new generation of EIM. The platform expands environmental measurement across the stages involved in making a garment.

Jeanologia will also present COMMON GROUND, a collaboration with Sue Barrett. The project explores the connection between nature, camouflage, craft and technology.

Expanding EIM from Yarn to Garment

Jeanologia has spent more than 15 years measuring the environmental impact of garment finishing. Now, EIM is expanding its scope to cover yarn, fabric and garment finishing through a common methodology.

This addresses a key challenge for the textile industry. A garment passes through several processes and production partners before reaching consumers. Therefore, understanding its overall impact requires reliable and comparable information from each stage.

At Kingpins Amsterdam, Jeanologia will demonstrate the new EIM architecture. Live demonstrations will showcase its different modules. Sessions with brands and manufacturers will also explain how environmental information can be generated and connected across the production chain.

The new EIM includes separate Yarn, Fabric and Garment Finishing modules. Each stage can therefore be measured independently. Meanwhile, EIM+ brings these results together to create a broader view of the product.

Using primary production data, EIM measures water and energy consumption as well as chemical use. At the garment-finishing stage, it also considers worker impact. The system then classifies environmental performance as low, medium or high impact.

The information remains traceable and can be structured for use in tools such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

Although EIM originated in denim and garment-finishing impact measurement, the new generation expands its application to textile products across the production chain, from yarn to finished garment.

“Kingpins gives us the opportunity to introduce the new EIM to a community that brings together many of the players involved in creating a garment. The challenge is no longer to measure processes in isolation, but to connect that information, understand the product as a whole and turn data into a tool to compare, decide and improve,” says Begoña García, EIM Director.

COMMON GROUND Explores Nature and Camouflage

Jeanologia’s second presentation moves into the creative side of fashion. Developed with Sue Barrett, COMMON GROUND explores the relationship between people and nature through pattern, camouflage and transformation.

The collection draws inspiration from shapes, textures, shadows and patterns found in natural environments. These references are then reinterpreted through craft, creativity and technology.

Camouflage serves as the visual thread connecting the collection. It also becomes a way to explore adaptation, identity and belonging.

Jeanologia’s laser and G2 Ozone technologies form part of the creative process. Laser technology creates patterns, contrast and depth directly on the garment. Meanwhile, ozone technology works with colour and ageing to shape the final appearance.

In this process, technology becomes a creative tool. It helps translate ideas into garments while expanding the possibilities of denim design and finishing.

Observe. Transform. Belong.

The concept is expressed through the COMMON GROUND manifesto:

Observe.
Transform.
Belong.

Nature creates the pattern.
The maker transforms it.
The wearer gives it meaning.

“There are a handful of projects we remember as ‘the ones’, built on true collaboration and creativity. COMMON GROUND is one of those. It has been a chance to bring together my passion for camouflage and utility clothing with nature, craft and technology, and reinterpret these references in a new way,” says Sue Barrett.

“For some of us, the creative process is as meaningful as the final collection. COMMON GROUND made us think about the balance between becoming part of our surroundings while still preserving our own identity, what makes us unique while sharing a common ground,” says Carme Santacruz, Creative Director at Jeanologia.

Through EIM and COMMON GROUND, Jeanologia brings together two sides of fashion development at Kingpins Amsterdam. One focuses on understanding and measuring impact, while the other explores new creative possibilities through technology, craft and design.
