Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 Highlights Sustainable Fibre and Yarn Innovation
Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 concluded with approximately 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions and nearly 22,000 visitors from 110 markets, highlighting the growing importance of sustainable materials, performance fibres and responsible sourcing across the global textile industry.
Held alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC and PH Value, the fair connected fibre and yarn innovation with fabric development, garment manufacturing and fashion-market demand. Buyers explored recycled, bio-based and regenerated fibres alongside performance-oriented solutions, creating opportunities for international sourcing and new business partnerships.
Sustainability and Performance Converge
The fair demonstrated how lower-impact materials are increasingly being developed alongside performance, aesthetics and traceability requirements.
Featured innovations included 100% recycled PET deja™ yarns from Indorama Ventures, plant-based polyester and NANODESIGN® technology from Toray Industries, and traceable recycled metallic yarns from The Lurex Company. Hangzhou Benma Chemfibre and Spinning also presented regenerated polyester produced from PET bottles and textile scrap for applications spanning fashion, activewear, home textiles and nonwovens.
The returning Uzbekistan Pavilion, featuring eight exhibitors, showcased the country’s vertically integrated cotton-textile sector, covering cultivation, weaving and garment production. International supply-chain connections were also represented by Vietnam’s Importeer International and Egypt’s Co For Flax And Its Products, highlighting cotton, synthetic and flax-based fibre and yarn offerings.
The Tongkun – China Fibre Fashion Trends Display Zone presented more than 300 new fibre and yarn samples, while the New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities explored themes including temperature-regulating fibres, resource recycling and reuse, greener production and next-generation textile applications.
Industry Perspectives
Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, highlighted the convergence of sustainability and performance at the event:

By bringing material innovators, processors, spinners, brands and downstream buyers together face to face, Yarn Expo Autumn 2026 has turned shared priorities into practical discussions and tangible business outcomes. We are pleased that through this exchange, our platform is helping to create new commercial partnerships across a more responsive textile value chain.”
Exhibitors also reported opportunities to connect with international buyers, present recycled and speciality yarns, gather market feedback and develop new business relationships.
Buyers Seek Certified and Sustainable Materials
Visitor feedback reflected continued interest in sustainable and certified textile materials. Buyers from Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other markets highlighted the fair’s role in supplier engagement, product development and sourcing.
Mr Ebrahim Shakoor of Peachbelt International, Pakistan, noted the availability of both conventional and recycled yarns, including recycled-polyester yarns with GRS certification.
For manufacturers such as Bangladesh-based MASCO, sustainability is already integrated into sourcing, with approximately 95% of its yarn consumption consisting of sustainable products, including BCI, organic, recycled and other certified fibres.
Yarn Expo Connects the Textile Value Chain
Yarn Expo Autumn was held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC and PH Value, bringing the fibre and yarn, apparel fabrics and accessories, fashion and knitted garments industries together.
The combined format enabled exhibitors and buyers to explore opportunities across different stages of the textile value chain and maximise business connections.
The next Yarn Expo Spring is scheduled for 10–12 March 2027 in Shanghai. The Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) will take place from 24–26 February 2027 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
