Gargee Designers Introduces ‘The Match Point,’ A Wedding Collection Inspired by the Journey of a Badminton Match

Gargee Designers, an Indian menswear label rooted in tailoring and craftsmanship, has introduced its latest wedding collection, ‘The Match Point’, inspired by the energy, anticipation and defining moments of a badminton match.

Designed for the modern groom, the collection brings together traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary styling, offering a fresh perspective on wedding dressing. Rather than focusing on a single wedding-day ensemble, The Match Point celebrates the many occasions, rituals and emotions that lead up to a couple’s new beginning.

From First Serve to Match Point

Drawing parallels between a badminton match and the wedding journey, Gargee Designers presents wedding dressing as a series of milestones, from the first serve to the final match point.

The collection is designed around the different occasions that form an Indian wedding, from traditional ceremonies and intimate rituals to grand evening receptions. It features a versatile selection of sherwanis, kurtas, bandi sets and tuxedos, allowing modern grooms to build a wedding wardrobe suited to different moods and celebrations.

The designs combine classic Indian workmanship with contemporary silhouettes, with an emphasis on comfort, versatility and individuality.

Speaking about the launch, Ravi Gupta, Creative Designer and Director of Gargee Designers, said, “A wedding is a very special and very personal journey filled with many moments and emotions not only for a bride but also for the groom. It is much like a badminton match that builds towards the match point. With Gargee Designer’s new launch, “The Match Point,” we want to shift the feeling of expectations, positive vibes, and celebrating menswear. We focus on making a collection that allows grooms to dress confidently for every occasion while staying connected to the workmanship and the tailoring that give credibility to Gargee Designers. This new launch and collection is our way of celebrating not just the end moments, but every single step that leads to a special day.”

Sherwanis, Kurtas and Tuxedos for the Modern Groom

The sherwani edit features intricate stitched detailing and textured fabrics across a broad colour palette, including ivory, champagne, ice blue and classic gold.

The kurta collection introduces greater variety through printed, embroidered, textured and mirror-work designs. For occasions that call for a sharper silhouette, the tuxedo edit offers a more contemporary approach to wedding menswear.

The collection is priced from ₹20,000 for kurtas and bandi sets, going up to ₹60,000. Sherwanis start at ₹50,000 and are priced up to ₹2 lakh.

A New Approach to Wedding Dressing

The Match Point encourages today’s grooms to explore colour, pattern and diverse silhouettes while maintaining a refined and sophisticated aesthetic. By treating the wedding as a sequence of celebrations rather than a single occasion, the collection gives men the opportunity to create a more comprehensive wedding wardrobe.

The concept also reflects the changing expectations around Indian wedding menswear, where modern grooms are increasingly looking for distinctive outfits that allow them to express their personal style across multiple ceremonies and celebrations.

With The Match Point, Gargee Designers combines its tailoring legacy with a playful sporting inspiration to create a wedding wardrobe that celebrates every stage of the groom’s journey, from the first serve to the final match point.
