Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition is set to take place from 25–27 August 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, reinforcing its position as a leading global sourcing hub for the evolving apparel textile industry. Building on the strong response to the 2025 edition, which featured over 3,700 exhibitors from 26 countries and attracted more than 100,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions, the 2026 edition will place greater emphasis on high-growth segments such as functional performance textiles, sustainability-driven solutions, and digital transformation in manufacturing.

According to Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, today’s buyers are increasingly seeking not just materials, but strategic direction, innovation partnerships, and long-term collaboration opportunities. She noted that the fair continues to evolve alongside industry needs by expanding its offerings across performance-driven, sustainable, and technology-led textile categories.

The 2026 edition will be structured around four key themes. “Fashion Forward” will focus on trend-led fabric curation and forecasting through the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum. “Performance Textiles” will highlight advanced functional materials for sportswear, outdoor, and lifestyle use, addressing growing demand for durability and comfort. The “Sustainability” segment will showcase eco-conscious materials and certified innovations through the Econogy Hub. “Textile Future” will explore smart textiles, AI-enabled design tools, and advanced digital manufacturing solutions shaping the next phase of supply chain evolution.

A key highlight this year is the expansion of the Pet Boutique, making its debut in the Autumn Edition after being introduced earlier in the Spring show. With the global pet textile market projected to grow steadily, particularly in Asia-Pacific, the dedicated zone will allow buyers to explore materials designed for pet apparel and accessories, an emerging niche within the broader textile ecosystem. Industry participants highlighted that natural fibres in pet applications remain an evolving area with significant potential for innovation and adoption.

The Functional Lab will also be significantly expanded, featuring curated displays, booth experiences, and knowledge-sharing seminars. A new addition, The CUBE, will serve as a high-visibility innovation showcase and introduce a structured Product Presentation Series, enabling exhibitors to directly present new developments to industry buyers and stakeholders.

This edition will further extend focus into emerging areas such as climate-adaptive textiles and ageing-oriented functional fabrics. These developments include materials designed for temperature regulation, moisture control, and enhanced comfort, alongside textiles tailored for silver-age consumers prioritising ease, functionality, and wearability. Together, these innovations reflect how functional textiles are moving beyond traditional performance categories into broader lifestyle applications.

Additional specialised zones will include Accessories Vision for garment components, Beyond Denim for sustainable denim innovation, Essential Suits & Shirts for accessible suiting fabrics, Innovation & Digital Solutions for AI-driven manufacturing tools, Premium Wool Zone for high-end suiting materials, SalonEurope for premium European textiles, and Verve for Design for trend-led creative textile concepts.

The fair is jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, CCPIT Sub-Council of Textile Industry, and China Textile Information Center. It will run alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC, and PH Value, forming a comprehensive sourcing platform across the entire apparel textile value chain.
