YKK Corporation has officially joined ZDHC Foundation (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) as a Signatory Supplier from May 2026, strengthening its commitment to eliminating hazardous chemicals from manufacturing processes.
ZDHC is a global organisation focused on the textile and apparel industry, working towards the elimination of hazardous chemicals and the promotion of responsible chemical management practices. Its network includes leading apparel brands, supply chain companies, and third-party verification and testing organisations worldwide.
Through industry-wide collaboration, ZDHC aims to establish common standards for chemical management while driving collective progress towards safer and more sustainable production practices.
YKK stated that it has long strengthened chemical management across its products and manufacturing operations through internal standards aligned with ZDHC’s publicly available policies. With increasing focus on environmental impact reduction and occupational safety, the company emphasised the importance of greater transparency and shared industry standards, leading to its decision to join ZDHC.
Through its participation, YKK aims to contribute towards advancing chemical management practices across the industry while supporting sustainable manufacturing that balances environmental responsibility with workplace safety.
Commenting on the development, Mai Mizubayashi said:
“The YKK Philosophy of the CYCLE OF GOODNESS ® ‘No one prospers without rendering benefit to others,’ is deeply connected to the concept of sustainability. Challenges related to chemicals used in manufacturing processes cannot be fundamentally addressed by the efforts of a single company alone. By joining ZDHC, we aim to further strengthen collaboration with our customers, suppliers, and verification bodies, and to steadily advance improvements in chemical management toward the realization of a circular economy.”
