India’s textile and apparel sector is actively shaping its global growth trajectory, supported by ambitious targets and a strong policy framework. With a vision to achieve a USD 350 billion textile economy, including USD 100 billion in exports by 2030, the sector is witnessing a significant transformation driven by aligned trade policies, investments, and institutional support.

At this critical juncture, Bharat Tex 2026, scheduled from July 14 to 17 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, emerges as a key platform connecting global opportunities with India’s expanding textile ecosystem.

India’s trade landscape has created a substantial advantage for the industry. Recent Free Trade Agreements with the European Union, the United Kingdom, the UAE, and Australia have opened access to a combined USD 465 billion market. These agreements provide Indian manufacturers with preferential or zero-duty access, strengthening their global competitiveness. The Ministry of Textiles has indicated that the industry should target capturing up to USD 200 billion of this export opportunity, signalling a major structural shift in global positioning.

Parallel to trade developments, domestic policy measures have reinforced the sector’s growth momentum. The Union Budget 2026-27 introduced six integrated initiatives, including the National Fibre Scheme, Textile Expansion and Employment Scheme, National Handloom and Handicraft Programme, Tex-Eco Initiative, Samarth 2.0, and a ₹10,000 crore SME Growth Fund. These initiatives operate alongside continued support from RoSCTL and PLI schemes, creating a cohesive policy environment that enables long-term planning and scalability for textile businesses.

Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to translate these advantages into tangible business opportunities. The event will host over 3,500 exhibitors and attract more than 7,000 international buyers from over 140 countries, making it one of the largest B2B textile platforms in India.

The exhibition is anchored in India’s 5F vision, spanning Farm to Fibre to Fabric to Fashion to Foreign, offering a comprehensive narrative of the country’s textile value chain. With growing emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and supply chain integration, Indian manufacturers are well-positioned to meet evolving global sourcing requirements.

With favourable trade access, strong policy backing, and increasing global demand, Bharat Tex 2026 stands as a decisive moment for the Indian textile industry to strengthen its position as a leading global sourcing destination.
