Kornit Digital Ltd. (NASDAQ: KRNT), a global innovator in sustainable, on-demand digital textile production technologies, has announced that UK-based apparel manufacturer Basic Prints has strengthened its digital production capabilities by installing a second Kornit Apollo Direct-to-Garment (DTG) system. The move represents a decisive step in Basic Prints’ transition toward a fully digital manufacturing model.
Established more than three decades ago, Basic Prints has long supported major UK high street retailers, licensed music merchandise programs, and private label fashion brands with premium garment decoration services. The company has now shifted the majority of its domestic production from conventional screen printing methods to automated digital mass production, positioning itself as a leader in agile, demand-responsive apparel manufacturing.
With two Apollo systems operating at industrial scale—each capable of producing thousands of prints daily—Basic Prints has restructured its operations to align with the speed and flexibility required in today’s retail landscape. The investment enables rapid replenishment cycles, seamless handling of complex graphic designs, instant artwork changes, and consistent high-volume output without the constraints of traditional screen setup processes.
The Kornit Apollo platform is a fully automated, high-capacity DTG solution that integrates garment loading, printing, curing, and unloading into a continuous workflow. By eliminating manual screen preparation and significantly reducing labor requirements, the system supports true end-to-end digital mass production at scale.
Ronen Samuel, Chief Executive Officer at Kornit Digital, emphasized that the expansion reflects more than simple capacity growth. He noted that Basic Prints’ transition from screen to digital production—running thousands of prints daily on each Apollo system—demonstrates that digital technology is now fully capable of meeting mainstream retail manufacturing demands. The flexibility to switch designs instantly, manage intricate graphics, and efficiently produce short- and mid-size runs underscores the scalability and reliability of digital production.
Kieran Hickey, Founder of Basic Prints, highlighted that digital manufacturing has become central to the company’s operations. With dual Apollo systems in place, Basic Prints can deliver industrial-scale output while maintaining the responsiveness modern retailers require. The shift has streamlined workflows, accelerated speed-to-market, and enhanced the company’s ability to support customers in a fast-moving retail environment.
By localizing high-volume digital production within the UK, Basic Prints enables retail partners to reduce inventory exposure, shorten lead times, and respond rapidly to fluctuating consumer demand. The transition reflects a broader industry movement toward more agile, data-driven, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
