The 82nd National Garment Fair (NGF) Spring Summer Edition, organised by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), concluded successfully in Mumbai. The three-day fair ran from January 20 to 22, 2026. It was held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Goregaon East.

Inauguration and Dignitaries

The Guests of Honour were Shri Ashish Kewalramani of Ashish NX, Nagpur, and Shri Ganesh Narayan Beria of Nagarmal Sheonarain & Sons, Arrah, Bihar. Several senior CMAI leaders attended the inauguration. These included Mr. Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI, and Mr. Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor, CMAI. Also present were Mr. Rohit Munjal, Vice President and Chairman of the Fair Committee, along with other office bearers.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. In his address, he said,
“If an event has stayed on for eight decades, it must be adding value to all its participants. That alone is adequate reason to compliment the CMAI, the participants, and the entire domestic sector which you all represent. With domestic consumption growing at 7–8 percent annually, the prospects for the domestic sector remain extremely bright. At the same time, as the global economy undergoes rapid change, competitiveness will increasingly depend on formalisation, technology adoption, productivity, sustainability, and speed to market. The Government and the Ministry of Textiles remain fully aligned with the industry’s needs and committed to supporting MSMEs in scaling up and integrating into global value chains.”

Strong Visitor Turnout and Business Activity

The fair recorded over 24,000 trade visitors. These included retailers, distributors, and wholesalers from across India. As a result, exhibitors reported strong enquiries and order discussions. This turnout indicates a positive retail outlook for the coming season.

Moreover, the high level of engagement suggests renewed market confidence. Buyers were actively sourcing fresh collections. At the same time, brands focused on expanding retail partnerships.

Industry Response and Market Sentiment

Speaking about the edition, Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI stated,
“Strong participation from both brands and retailers has translated into meaningful commercial engagement, reinforcing the fair’s role in driving growth and industry collaboration. The impressive business traction and healthy order volumes recorded at this edition reflect the sector’s inherent resilience and market confidence. Positive feedback from exhibitors further highlights the industry’s growth, setting a strong foundation for a dynamic and successful season ahead.”

Similarly, Rohit Munjal, Vice President and Chairman of the Fair Committee, CMAI said,
“The National Garment Fair continues to witness exceptional enthusiasm from across the apparel industry, with every edition fully booked well in advance and strong demand from participating members. This sustained and growing engagement from manufacturers, brands, and buyers year after year reinforces NGF’s position as a trusted, high-impact platform. The depth and diversity of participation not only reflect the industry’s confidence in the Fair, but also make each edition stronger, more representative, and more relevant to the evolving needs of the apparel ecosystem.”

Scale and Product Showcase

The exhibition covered nearly 700,000 sq ft. It featured more than 1085 brands across 1070 stalls. Collections included womenswear, menswear, kidswear, and accessories. Therefore, buyers could source across categories under one roof.

In addition, the fair highlighted key trends for the Spring Summer season. Exhibitors focused on design innovation, price competitiveness, and faster delivery cycles.
