Upgraded Facility to Boost Research and Innovation
Archroma, a global leader in sustainable specialty chemicals, has funded the renovation of a sustainable textile laboratory at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. The initiative is part of the company’s CSR program. The upgraded facility strengthens ICT’s ability to conduct essential research in textile processing, manufacturing, and effluent treatment. It also helps the institute address existing industrial challenges while encouraging innovation in resource-efficient technologies.
Improved Learning Environment for Students
The new infrastructure enhances practical training for students. It provides modern equipment that supports hands-on learning and scientific exploration. As a result, students gain stronger technical skills and industry-relevant knowledge. The upgraded laboratory also ensures that the department remains aligned with evolving industrial and educational requirements, especially when only a limited number of institutions still offer specialized textile expertise.
Archroma’s Commitment to Education and Sustainability
“Archroma’s support reflects our commitment to education and community development under our CSR program. We aim to create better learning environments that prepare students and researchers for sustainable textile practices. We are pleased to collaborate with ICT in strengthening academic infrastructure that benefits society,” said Anjani Prasad, Regional Vice President, India.
Facility to Benefit Wider Community
The upgraded laboratory will also function as a platform for community outreach. The department plans to conduct training programs for small business owners, artisans, and local stakeholders. These programs will promote eco-friendly processing methods, value-added techniques, and sustainable development practices.
Strengthening Academic Capability
“The upgrade of our textile laboratory, made possible through Archroma’s funding, will significantly enhance our teaching and research ecosystem. It will help students, researchers, and community members access improved facilities and work on sustainable solutions. We appreciate Archroma’s support in strengthening academic capability for broader societal benefit,” said Mr. Ashok Athley, Head of the Department of Fibers & Textile Processing Technology at ICT.
