Plastics Recycling Show (PRS) India returned this year, joined by the first edition of the Bharat Recycling Show (BRS) 2025. The event took place at the Bombay Exhibition Center. It welcomed 150 exhibitors, 8,000 visitors, and participants from over 10 countries. Together, the shows offered a complete view of new recycling technologies, solutions, and innovations.

Industry and Government Leaders Mark Their Presence

The inauguration ceremony featured key dignitaries such as Dr. Jairaj Phatak, Mr. Siddhesh Kadam, Mr. Sanjay Mehta, Mr. Sandeep Vakharia, Mr. Sushil Kothari, Mr. Deepak Rungta, Mr. Sameer Joshi, Mr. Ankit Jain, Mr. Prabhakar Milavarapu, Mr. Pawandeep Singh, and Mr. Sandeep Singh.
Their participation showed strong cooperation between government, industry bodies, and sustainability advocates.

Driving India Toward a Circular Future

Across three days, the show created a meeting point for recyclers, innovators, manufacturers, policymakers, and investors. They explored new business models, policy updates, and trends shaping India’s circular economy journey.

MPCB Highlights Need for Urgency

Mr. Siddhesh Kadam, Chairman, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, said:
“Maharashtra has been at the forefront of environmental leadership, becoming the first state in India to implement a ban on single use plastics… turning waste into a valuable resource and driving a cleaner, more resilient future, turning garbage into the next gold.”

Recycling as a Core Pillar of Viksit Bharat 2047

Mr. Ajit Salvi, Director, RCUES AIILSG Mumbai, stated:
“The recycling industry holds immense potential to become a key pillar of India’s economy… the second edition of the PRS Show may be modest in scale, it embodies strong ambitions and optimism for the future.”

Strengthening India’s Recycling Data Landscape

Mr. Sanjay Mehta, President, MRAI, emphasised:
“Our foremost agenda is to compile accurate and comprehensive data on plastic scrap recycling in India… to help organize and strengthen the plastic recycling sector.”

₹50,000 Crore Needed to Scale E-Waste Recycling

Mr. B K Soni, CMD, Eco Recycling, shared the sector’s biggest challenge:
“The recycling industry in India faces one primary challenge, the availability of raw materials for formal recycling… the sector would require close to ₹50,000 crore which presents an enormous investment opportunity.”

Government Focus on Reform and Clarity

Mr. Sumit Kumar, Principal Commissioner, Customs & CGST, Government of India, said:
“The Government of India… is deeply committed to engaging directly with industry stakeholders… Events like this play a vital role in strengthening communication, improving transparency, and fostering mutual growth.”

Expanding India’s Recycling Capacity

Mr. Taher Patrawala, Managing Director, Media Fusion, added:
“With sustainability and circular economy at the forefront… the inaugural BRS alongside the second edition of PRS India is driving meaningful collaborations that foster efficiency, value creation, and long-term sustainability.”

Global Collaboration Gains Momentum

Matthew Barber, Global Events Director, Crain Communications, noted:
“The collaboration between PRS India and the Bharat Recycling Show highlights a growing global momentum towards sustainable production and responsible waste management…”

India’s Circular Potential Remains Underused

India’s waste streams—from plastics and paper to metals and e-waste—carry major economic value. Today, the plastics sector processes over 10 million tons of waste each year. Paper recycling uses 45 percent recycled fibre. However, metals like zinc have recycling rates as low as 10 percent, showing large untapped potential.

Strong Industry Support and Advanced Technologies

The shows received support from associations such as ILZDA, MRAI, BNMA, BMR, ALEMAI, and many others. Leading recycling technology providers, including Power Hydrotech, Fornnax Technology, Safar Ecopet, Hysan Balers, and Apex Knives, showcased high-performance machinery designed for India.

Building a Sustainable Industrial Future

Together, PRS India and BRS 2025 reinforced India’s growing leadership in recycling, resource recovery, and circular innovation. The platforms encouraged collaboration, knowledge exchange, and responsible growth for the industry.
