Academic documentation serves as a vital knowledge repository to strengthen the textile and fashion ecosystem, remarked Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, while speaking on the sidelines of the Convocation Ceremony of the Graduating Class of 2025 at the National Institute of Fashion Technology Campus, Daman. He said that well-researched academic publications, such as student-led journals, play a transformative role in connecting theoretical insights with real-world industry needs. By capturing evolving market trends, sustainability practices, and entrepreneurial innovations, such documentation ensures the transmission of knowledge across generations. It provides valuable references for policymakers, educators, and industry leaders engaged in advancing India’s textile and fashion sectors.

During the occasion, the Minister received a special edition of the Textile Value Chain Journal, featuring 29 research papers authored by the Master of Fashion Management students of NIFT Daman, presented by Dr. Brijesh Deore, Director, NIFT Daman Campus. He encouraged the young researchers to continue documenting their academic inquiries to contribute to the evolving global textile discourse.

Smt. Tanu Kashyap, IAS, Director General of NIFT, lauded the Daman campus for its forward-looking initiative in consolidating student research through this journal edition. She observed that such compilations enhance institutional knowledge sharing and make academic insights accessible to industry practitioners. Through these scholarly works, she added, NIFT campuses are reinforcing their role as dynamic think tanks, fostering sustainability, craft preservation, and strategic innovation in fashion and textile management.
