The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has received a donation from the GS Charity Foundation to support the School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT) research project, “From Tradition to Tech: A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Fashion Design and Brand Ecosystem Management in the Age of AI and Digital Platforms.” The project aims to integrate AI and digital platforms into sustainable fashion design and brand ecosystem management.

At the donation and kick-off ceremony held at the PolyU campus, Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU President, and Mr. Yeung Fan, Vice-chairman and General Manager of Glorious Sun Group, officiated the event and exchanged souvenirs crafted using weaving techniques that symbolized PolyU’s heritage and gratitude.

Prof. Teng highlighted the importance of AI as a driver of reindustrialisation and smart city development in Hong Kong, emphasizing that the collaboration will nurture talent equipped with AI expertise and reinforce the Greater Bay Area’s position as a hub for fashion innovation.

Mr. Yeung Fan reaffirmed Glorious Sun Group’s four-decade-long partnership with PolyU and their confidence in its research excellence, stressing their shared commitment to advancing innovation, talent development, and sustainability in the apparel sector.

Distinguished guests, including senior executives from Glorious Sun Group, PolyU leadership, and notable government representatives, attended the ceremony. Prof. Joanne Yip, Associate Dean of SFT, introduced the research focus areas, which span AI-driven fashion design, apparel material simulation, production optimisation, consumer review analysis, and live commerce ecosystem strategies.
