Fairtrade India, in partnership with Fairtrade Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (Fairtrade-NAPP), will host the Second National Fairtrade in India Conference & Recognition Event on 9–10 September 2025 at The Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru. Supported by the European Union’s SWITCH-Asia Programme and EC FFPA, the event will unite 150+ participants from global and Indian producer organisations, businesses, policymakers, academia, and sustainability leaders.

Themed “Sustainability, Markets, and Impact,” the two-day programme will highlight Fairtrade’s role in strengthening ethical trade, sustainable agriculture, and resilient supply chains.

India’s Fairtrade sector has shown strong momentum, with domestic sales of Fairtrade-labelled products tripling between 2022 and 2024, exports estimated at ₹330–450 crore annually, and a Fairtrade Premium of nearly ₹49.81 crore reinvested into farming communities for education, healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainability initiatives.

Key sessions will explore Fairtrade’s contribution to sustainable agriculture, decarbonisation in textiles, EU sustainability regulations, impact stories from producers, sustainable fashion, youth-led initiatives, and innovative business models.

The event will feature leaders such as Lisa Prassack (CEO, Fairtrade International), Blaise Desbordes (Max Havelaar France), Claudia Brueck (Fairtrade Germany), Abhishek Jani (Fairtrade India Project), Bindu S (Fairtrade-NAPP), Charath Narsimhan (Indian Terrain Fashions), Vivek Sandhwar (Being Human), Pravakar Meher (Pratima Agro & Paper), and sustainability experts from India’s MSME textile sector.

Speakers emphasized Fairtrade’s role in delivering fairer incomes for farmers, building transparent and responsible supply chains, and mainstreaming sustainability in Indian markets—especially within fashion, which represents 75% of the domestic Fairtrade-labelled market.
