The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Daman recently organized a special interaction with skilled artisans from Kutch, Gujarat, to celebrate National Handloom Day. The event aimed to promote and preserve India’s rich cultural heritage, with a focus on the traditional Bhujodi art of Kutch. During the event, students had the opportunity to learn about Bhujodi art, a traditional weaving craft renowned for its intricate geometric patterns. Artisans Pravin Siju and Premji Vankar, both national award winners, shared their expertise and the history behind this ancient art form.
The artisans showcased their exceptional handloom weaving skills, utilizing natural fibers such as Kala Cotton, wool, and silk to create exquisite products like shawls, blankets, and sarees. Their products are in high demand across India, and they also maintain a strong online presence through social media.
The event provided a valuable platform for students to learn from experienced artisans, appreciate the craftsmanship, and understand the cultural significance of Bhujodi art.
