The Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) will be held from September 22 to 24, 2025, in Siegburg/Cologne, Germany, presenting cutting-edge solutions that replace fossil carbon with renewable sources, such as biomass, recycled materials, and captured CO₂. The conference, organised by the Nova-Institute, is expected to host over 500 international participants, 75 technical presentations, 20 panel discussions, and a dual-floor tabletop exhibition.
A major highlight of RMC 2025 will be the addition of 12 expert-led workshops, offering attendees the chance to explore practical strategies, industry case studies, and forward-looking policies. These sessions are designed to complement the main conference, allowing participants to attend both seamlessly.
Hands-On Workshops Across Three Days
On Day 1, highlights include:
-
Holcim’s session on commercialising CO₂-to-chemicals solutions.
-
Syklo’s workshop on converting cardboard and plastic waste into bio-composites.
-
PtX Lab Lausitz discussing policy support for CO₂-based petrochemical clusters.
-
nova-Institute’s startup workshop, guiding SMEs on business planning in the renewable materials space.
Day 2 will cover:
-
Fraunhofer UMSICHT’s “Air2Chem” project, focusing on CO₂-derived chemical production.
-
nova’s communication workshop on promoting renewable materials.
-
HYDRA Marine Sciences & BASF’s biodegradability workshop, clarifying how biodegradable materials integrate into the circular economy.
-
Science Based Targets initiative, offering updates on corporate net-zero targets and renewable carbon integration.
On Day 3,
-
TNO (Netherlands) will lead a session on applying AI in polymer design for sustainable materials.
-
