The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a strategic MoU with Hafele India Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen India’s manufacturing innovation and empower startups, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs. This collaboration emphasizes building resilient local supply chains and furthering India’s vision as a global manufacturing powerhouse.

Hafele will support product innovation and local sourcing by investing in startups, extending mentorship, and enabling their integration into global value chains. The company has already invested USD 2.5 million in an Indian appliance startup and placed purchase orders with Indian MSME manufacturers in the hardware and fittings sectors.

DPIIT will enhance this collaboration through Startup India, offering program access, co-branding opportunities, and strategic linkages. Hafele’s expanded support includes infrastructure access, supplier development, and technical partnerships.

Dr. Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering industry-driven manufacturing growth. Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, added that the partnership promotes sustainable growth under the Make in India initiative. Frank Schloeder, MD, South Asia at Hafele, reiterated the company’s belief in India’s innovation potential and their commitment to building an “India for India, and India for the World.”

The MoU will remain effective for two years, with provisions for extension by mutual consent.
