“The global textile industry is shifting from natural fibres to Manmade Fibres (MMF) due to their cost-effectiveness,” stated Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, during the MATEXIL Annual Export Award Ceremony held on March 30, 2025, in Mumbai.

The Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL)—formerly known as SRTEPC—successfully hosted this annual event to recognize and celebrate outstanding export performance by member companies in FY 2023–24. Approximately 50 awards were presented across various MMF textile categories.

The event was graced by senior government officials and prominent industry leaders, with Shri Giriraj Singh presenting the awards to distinguished companies. In his speech, he emphasized the need for research and development, innovation, and green manufacturing practices to ensure India’s leadership in MMF and technical textiles. He also highlighted the importance of fostering a business-friendly ecosystem for these sectors.

A key moment of the ceremony was the launch of MATEXIL’s revamped website and its new Trade Dashboard, which offers detailed trade insights into the MMF and technical textile sectors. The Minister applauded Chairman Shri Bhadresh Dodhia and MATEXIL’s leadership for this forward-thinking initiative. He also reaffirmed the government’s goal of achieving USD 100 billion in textile exports by 2030 and stressed the need for accurate data to guide policy-making.

During his address, Chairman Shri Bhadresh Dodhia spoke about the rising demand for sustainable and recyclable MMF textiles, driven by the evolving preferences of global consumers and retailers. He urged the industry to adopt eco-conscious practices and highlighted technical skill gaps in processing and finishing as a major challenge. To overcome this, he recommended collaborations with international experts and technological upgrades to meet global standards.

Vice Chairman Shri Shaleen Toshniwal concluded the event by underlining the importance of recognizing export excellence. He said the awards serve as a strong motivator for both established and emerging exporters.

Some of the key honorees included Reliance Industries Limited, Grasim Industries Limited, D’Décor Exports, Sangam India Limited, Vardhman Textiles, RSWM Limited, and Banswara Syntex, among others.

The ceremony highlighted MATEXIL’s commitment to enhancing India’s global presence in MMF textiles and encouraging the industry to push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability.
