Modern Meadow, a pioneer in sustainable biomaterials, announced that Karmuel Young, founder of the Hong Kong-based Karmuel Young label, incorporated INNOVERA™ in his final design for the 2025 Sustasia Fashion Prize. His innovative four-in-one jumpsuit, crafted from camel-colored INNOVERA™ suede, seamlessly transforms into a jumpsuit, long coat, short jacket, and pants—promoting versatility and sustainability in menswear.
The Sustasia Fashion Prize, organized by the Shanghai Fashion Designers Association and yehyehyeh, fosters sustainable innovation in Asia’s fashion industry. Eight finalists showcased their creations at Shanghai Fashion Week on March 28, with designs evaluated on sustainability, aesthetics, innovation, and practicality.
David Williamson, PhD, CEO of Modern Meadow, expressed pride in Young’s use of INNOVERA™, emphasizing its potential in redefining sustainable luxury. Made from plant-based proteins, biopolymers, and recycled rubber, INNOVERA™ contains over 80% renewable carbon, is 25% lighter than traditional materials, and offers twice the strength.
Young, known for his modern masculine designs, praised INNOVERA™ for its luxurious look, feel, and durability. “This is my first convertible look, giving men timeless styling options while reducing fashion waste,” he said.
The finalist exhibition is open to the public at SUHE HAUS, Shanghai, until April 6, 2025.
