Location: Gurugram, India | Area: 4500 sq feet | Completion: 2024
Principal Designer: Manmeet Ahuja
The physical manifestation of a designer’s values, concepts, and sensibilities is his workspace. In the centre of Gurgaon, Manmeet Ahuja has built an opulent yet functional retreat by extending his creative genius into his design studio. This 4500-square-foot, single-story, isolated office space invites you to stop, think, and process.
This workplace appears to be anything but a place of work because to its classic color scheme of charcoal blacks and pearly whites, checkerboard flooring, and Parisian molding. Ahuja wanted to create a luxurious yet cozy environment that encourages you to enter a state of zen-meditation. The studio infuses all of its spaces with a subtle elegance, including the conference rooms, the French-inspired director’s office, the serene team area, and the reception area filled with artwork. Every room is fully furnished.
The large office is situated on a landscaped location that is bordered by a water feature that provides a refreshing respite from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. It encourages you to observe the area and move into the
positive cadence of the room. The arrangement is linear, with a stately corridor on one side and office-related operations on the other.
Inspiration is immediately apparent as soon as you enter the opulent foyer, from the carefully chosen artwork created by Manmeet Ahuja to the patterned floor and midnight black furnishings. The corridor that follows follows the traditional dual-toned floor, which carries on the room’s aesthetic conversation.
The offices of the two directors adopt distinct personalities that are representative of their owners and harmoniously blend in with the studio’s overall serene atmosphere. The designer’s den features a black onyx desk at the center of an absorptive black color scheme with white and powder navy accents for balance. In contrast, the co-founder’s room has an Indo-French feel with European accents set against a creamy white background. The furniture, which is finished in calming dark walnut and with gold hardware as an accent, makes this space come to life. Nestled in between, the conference room’s light wood tones and white stone tabletops give it a calm, airy elegance.
The design team at Manmeet uses a shared workspace that places a high value on utility and simplicity, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation. The studio ends with a tranquil sitting room that can be used for a variety of purposes. Ahuja’s canvas, this area features a custom bar, cozy seating areas, and an assortment of one-of-a-kind artwork. It adopts calming olive tones that highlight the spirit of this city haven, complete with areas for leisure and enjoyment.
This imaginative office space is a tribute to the potential of workplace design that demonstrates the union of creativity and productivity. Ahuja’s creative expression is physically represented by this design studio.
