Global coalition aims to move the fashion industry towards a circular future by utilizing renewable nature-driven materials

In order to hasten the fashion industry’s shift to sustainable circular business models, Archroma, a global pioneer in specialty chemicals for sustainable solutions, has joined the BioCircular Materials Alliance.

The Alliance, which biomaterials pioneer Spiber Inc. founded, unites top fashion companies, producers, and suppliers to promote the broader use of bio-based textile materials and chemical treatments. The establishment of a Materials BioCircularity Database is one of the early milestones that will assist mills and brands in assessing how the fibers, dyes impact the recyclability of final products, and finishing chemicals they choose.

Archroma’s plan for a more sustainable textile sector is outlined in its PLANET CONSCIOUS+ vision. The Alliance’s objective of creating a circular ecosystem is ideally aligned with the company’s mission, which motivates it to work with other industry leaders to push beyond the current quo. Along with Spiber and our other Alliance partners, Archroma is honored to be a part of this endeavor.

Dedicated to promoting sustainability, Archroma concentrates on creating dyes and chemicals products, procedures, and technologies that seek to boost market offerings in terms of sustainability while also providing increased value to customers, mills, and brands. With its inventions, Archroma aims to assist our partners in creating clothing and textiles that are more robust, safe, and manufactured more effectively.

The BioCircular Materials Alliance now includes 13 additional businesses and organizations in addition to Stella McCartney, Fashion for Good, and Marzotto Wool Manufacturing Srl. Only two of the Alliance’s suppliers of chemicals and colors are Archroma.

Brands, manufacturers, industry organizations and policymakers can find out more about how to get involved at www.biocircularmaterials.org.
