Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition, which concluded its 30th anniversary event earlier this year, will launch a new chapter from August 20 to 22, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The global trade platform will once again bring together domestic and foreign industry participants under the new fair theme, “Powering home textile connections in Asia.” It will use its “textile power” to promote business interchange during the fall peak sourcing season.

The significance of this event in promoting cross-border and cross-sector cooperation was emphasized by Ms. Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd: “This year’s 30th anniversary edition saw a 10% increase in visitors, with 13% of the total consisting of foreign customers. We anticipate more foreign visitors in August of next year as a result of China expanding its visa-free access and adding more nations to the list. We also hope that the exhibition will show its growing importance to international industry players. Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is the perfect venue for exhibitors to demonstrate their “textile power” to the home and contract sectors, since both the local and international markets are exhibiting encouraging trends. In the upcoming ten years, as well as next year

One of the main themes throughout the home textile section of Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network is “textile power.” Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is spreading the idea throughout Asia through Shanghai, a major textile hub, showcasing a dedication to bringing together global industry players from various sub-sectors and related markets.

In the meantime, China’s domestic textile sector is making use of its robust production advantages; in 2024, demand from significant export markets reversed the 2023 downturn. The nation’s domestic textile exports increased by 3.8% year over year to USD 35.7 billion between January and September, with growth significantly above average in the US, EU, and Latin American markets. The demand has frequently followed the worldwide trends of innovation and sustainability, which were important themes at the 2024 exhibition and are expected to remain so in 2025.

“Previously, only about 10% of our Japanese customers were looking for sustainable products, but now 50% to 60% of our customers have such demands,” said Mr. Runhao Ma, General Manager, Overseas Sales & Production Dept of Toyo Orimono Co Ltd, a Japanese exhibitor at the previous edition, in reference to emerging market trends. We continue to exhibit here since it’s one of the top international exhibitions in China for reaching both domestic and foreign buyers. We had already made contact with over 60 groups of highly interested buyers on the first day.

The significance of exhibiting at the textile trading hub was also highlighted by Mr. Mário Abreu, Technical Manager of the Elastron Group from Portugal: “This is our fifth time joining Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, and we have a division in China with a huge commercial team. We noticed this show is good for our Chinese market.” We are pleased with the first day, which saw a large number of guests, mostly from China but also from the Middle East. “We have a selection of textile-waste recycled fabrics that use zero water in production – if you manufacture a sofa using these fabrics you save 250 liters of water and about 400 PET bottles,” he continued while discussing sustainability.

An international demonstration of creativity and cooperation
Over 35,000 visitors from 108 countries and regions interacted with 946 exhibitors from 15 countries and areas on the 100,000 square meter show floor during the 2024 edition. Longtime customers like Ms. June da Silva, Director of Hertex from South Africa, noted: “The exhibitors are always forward-looking with color, and the prices remain good. The biggest improvements have been in communication and product quality.” Approximately 70% of our stock is imported from China or travels through Europe. This exhibition is crucial and has grown in significance for us as one of our top global sourcing options.

A vast range of home textile products, such as bedding and towels, rugs, table and kitchen linens, upholstery and curtain fabrics, editors, home textile technology, and textile design, will be available for customers to peruse in the next Autumn Edition.

The China Home Textile Association (CHTA), the Sub-Council of Textile Industry (CCPIT), and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. are the organizers of the Autumn Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles.
