In a stunning display of resilience and artistic collaboration, Miss South Africa 2024 Mia le Roux is set to reclaim her spotlight at Cape Town Fashion Week (CTFW), showcasing the elaborate national costume she was unable to debut at the Miss Universe pageant due to health challenges.

Scheduled for November 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM, le Roux will grace the CTFW Edit Spring/Summer 2024 runway, transforming a potential setback into a powerful fashion statement. The national costume, a remarkable testament to South African creativity, represents over 150 hours of meticulous craftsmanship by Africa Fashion International (AFI) artisans.

The design emerges from an extraordinary collaboration between renowned visual artist Esther Mahlangu and celebrated industry designer Gavin Rajah. Each intricate crystal and carefully placed bead tells a story of cultural heritage, embodying the rich artistic traditions of South Africa.

Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, AFI’s Founder and Executive Chair, emphasised the significance of this moment, highlighting how the costume represents more than just a fashion piece—it’s a celebration of African talent and creativity. The reveal symbolises le Roux’s remarkable journey, transforming a challenging experience into an opportunity for artistic expression.

The Miss South Africa Organization has fully supported le Roux’s decision, with CEO Stephanie Weil praising her courage and determination. What was initially perceived as a disappointing moment has now become a platform for le Roux to showcase her strength and the incredible artistry behind her national costume.

Fashion enthusiasts and supporters alike can anticipate a spectacular runway moment that promises to be both a personal triumph for le Roux and a stunning representation of South African design excellence.

The CTFW Edit Spring/Summer 2024 event, running from November 29 to 30, will provide the perfect stage for this extraordinary reveal, solidifying le Roux’s place not just as a beauty pageant contestant but as a powerful narrative of resilience in the fashion world.
