U.S. Polo Assn. Eyes Significant Growth in the Footwear Category

U.S. Polo Assn., the iconic brand synonymous with American sports heritage, is poised to double its footwear category revenue in the coming years. Shailesh Chaturvedi, MD & CEO of Arvind Fashions Ltd., the brand’s licensee in India, revealed to ETRetail that the goal is to elevate the category from its current Rs 250 crore to a substantial Rs 500 crore plus business.

The brand’s footwear segment has been a standout performer, recording a remarkable 30% growth in the previous fiscal year. Despite temporary setbacks due to industry-wide import issues, Chaturvedi remains optimistic about the category’s potential for continued growth.

Broader Growth Strategy

With a strong foundation and a clear growth strategy, U.S. Polo Assn. is aiming for a 15% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next three years. Key growth drivers include category expansion, digital initiatives, and increased retail footprint.

The brand’s contribution to Arvind Fashions’ overall revenue is significant, accounting for 40-45%. Last fiscal year, U.S. Polo Assn. achieved double-digit growth in both topline and EBITDA.

Focus on Women’s Wear and Digital Commerce

U.S. Polo Assn. is prioritising the women’s wear category, which was relaunched last year. The brand has invested in a new team, expanded its online presence, and opened 25 key offline stores. Additionally, the introduction of handbags and footwear has further enriched the women’s offering.

Digital commerce is another key focus area. The brand currently derives 25% of its revenue from online channels, which are growing at a faster pace than the overall business. To capitalise on the burgeoning e-commerce landscape, U.S. Polo Assn. is launching its innerwear on quick commerce platforms this week.

Strategic Partnerships

U.S. Polo Assn. is actively seeking strategic partnerships to elevate its brand positioning. The recent collaboration with His Highness Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur has resulted in a premium capsule collection that blends royal heritage with modern sports fashion. This exclusive line is set to debut in the upcoming Autumn-Winter 2024 season.

As U.S. Polo Assn. continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, the brand is well-positioned to solidify its leadership position in the Indian fashion market.
