Rickea Jackson, a forward for the Los Angeles Sparks, was added to Skechers’ list of athlete ambassadors on Tuesday.
Together with Skechers, the WNBA’s first-round draft pick is promoting the American company’s newest basketball shoe release.
The newest Skechers trainer, known as the “SKX Nexus,” is a low-top court shoe made for comfort, stability, and speed. The new design is a part of Skechers’ current lineup, which also includes the controllable and lightweight SKX Float and Resagrip. According to the Los Angeles-based firm, another new type that will be available for the 2024–2025 season is the SKX Reign, which encourages elevation and intense traction.
A rising star in the WNBA, Jackson began her collegiate career at Mississippi State and the University of Tennessee, where, as a senior in 2023, she was recognized as the first team of the SEC. In addition to being named to the second team of the SEC and winning the Gillom Trophy as Mississippi’s best female college athlete as a freshman in 2020, Jackson was chosen as the number four overall choice by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2024 WNBA draft.
Along with NBA players Joel Embiid, Julius Randal, and Terance Mann; football players Harry Kane, Mohammed Kudus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Anthony Elanga; golfers Matt Fitzpatrick and Brooke Henderson; pickleball pros Tyson McGuffin and Catherine Parenteau; and Major League Baseball players Clayton Kershaw, Chris Taylor, Brendan Donovan, Aaron Nola, and Wade Miley, the basketball star has joined Skechers’ roster of athlete ambassadors.
Skechers reported another record-breaking second quarter in its most recent trade update, with sales up 7.2% to $2.16 billion, driven by strong single-digit growth in all markets and channels.
