Dutch Manufacturing Output Falls 3.5% In April 2024

In April 2024, the Dutch manufacturing industry saw a 3.5% decrease in output compared to the previous year, marking the industry’s tenth consecutive month of contraction. Almost half of all industrial sectors in the Netherlands also reported a decrease in production.

However, after adjusting for seasonal effects, manufacturing output showed a 0.4% increase from March. Dutch manufacturers showed a slightly more positive outlook in May, especially regarding expected output, suggesting possible improvements ahead.

In May, German business owners were still pessimistic, facing a 3.5% drop in manufacturing output compared to the previous year. However, on a monthly basis, there was a slight increase of 0.3%.
