The Wool Campaign keeps King Charles as a sponsor.

The King, who has always supported the Campaign for Wool’s objective to promote the sustainability and environmental benefits of wool, has reaffirmed his sponsorship of the organization. King Charles’ pledge emphasizes how crucial it is to promote wool as a naturally occurring, renewable, and biodegradable resource in light of growing worries about climate change and the spread of synthetic materials.

Following an assessment of their links to more than 1,000 organizations, King Charles and other prominent British royals said last week that they will renounce their support of over 200 charities and organizations, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Initiated in 2008 by King Charles while he was still The Prince of Wales, the Campaign for Wool was formally launched in 2010. Its main goal was to equip wool producers throughout the Commonwealth to tackle the rise of synthetic fibers, which present serious environmental problems for the fashion, interior design, and building industries. King Charles has toured the UK, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa as the Campaign’s Patron, meeting with wool producers to emphasize the superior environmental quality and ecological advantages of wool in a variety of uses.

ENABLING WOOL PRODUCERS THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH 

In light of climate change and the growing consumption of plastics, the Campaign for Wool gains further importance in line with King Charles’ current thematic focus on Climate, Community, Commonwealth, and Culture. Since his undergraduate days, when he first voiced worries about the widespread use of plastics more than fifty years ago, His Majesty has been a strong supporter of wool. It becomes clear that adopting wool is a responsible decision that is necessary to protect the environment for the coming generations.

Worldwide stakeholders, including farmers, wool processors, designers, brands, and retailers, overwhelmingly endorse the campaign. The Campaign is ready to launch a number of cutting-edge projects and partnerships in October of 2024, which is designated as Wool Month. These initiatives aim to increase wool’s prominence and relevance in sustainable practices and consumer decisions, highlighting its critical role in reducing environmental deterioration.
