Just her manicure with Swarovski crystals took a hundred hours to complete.
Meet Sudha Reddy, a philanthropist, and businesswoman from Hyderabad who was spotted on the Met Gala 2024 red carpet wearing a custom Tarun Tahiliani off-the-shoulder gown and jewelry valued at crores from her collection. It makes perfect sense that the entrepreneur’s jewelry stood out above the celebrity-loaned pieces from luxury jewelry retailers for the evening, considering that she is a native of the Nizami country.
To pay homage to the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition at the Costume Institute and the Met theme, Reddy chose an elaborate white silk gown designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The outfit and cape were made by a group of eighty skilled artisans in four thousand and five man hours. The delicate needlework includes coaching, tiny French knots, and three-dimensional butterflies.
Tahiliani’s usual modest beige-gold color palette was used to design Reddy’s costume, which was meant to look like an ancient heirloom in keeping with this year’s Met Gala theme, which will feature historical apparel that is too delicate to be worn again but is rarely seen.
With 25 solitaires totaling over 180 carats, the “Amore Eterno” necklace is a testament to the Reddy family’s history that will be passed down to future generations. A symbolic family tree made of four enormous, heart-shaped diamonds was the focal point of the necklace. A twenty-carat heart diamond, known as the Queen of Hearts, represents Sudha Reddy, while the biggest diamond, a twenty-carat King of Hearts, honors Reddy’s spouse Krishna.
Twenty-one brilliant round diamonds, representing the shared experiences and treasured moments of Sudha and Krishna’s love journey, complete this necklace. Even while it could be the focal point of Reddy’s ensemble, it goes more than that. Reddy finished off this lavish event with a 23-carat yellow diamond ring and a 20-carat heart-shaped diamond ring to complete her Met Gala outfit.
In the corporate sector, the businesswoman is a well-known leader. She oversaw Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited as its director and is renowned for her substantial charitable endeavors. When Reddy attended the Met Gala for the first time in 2021, she wore a custom Falguni Shane Peacock gown with an oversized train. This year, to promote the arts, she will be developing a more strategic partnership with the Met Museum.
