Asics, a popular sportswear brand from Japan, has big plans to grow in India. They’re aiming to open 50 additional stores in the country by 2025. Their goal is to reach out to diverse customers all over India, especially in smaller towns and rural areas, where they see a rising interest in sports and fitness.
Yasuhito Hirota, the head of Asics Corporation, shared, “India is a key market for us, and we’re noticing a growing interest in sports across various regions. This motivates us to open more stores to cater to this increasing demand.”
Since their start in India in 2013, Asics has successfully launched 100 stores across the nation. Looking ahead, they plan to expand further, aiming to introduce their first specialized Asics store in 2026. This comes as part of their strategy to expand their reach by opening more regular stores first.
Rajat Khurana, who leads Asics in India and South Asia, emphasized, “Our focus is to bring sports closer to smaller cities and towns in the upcoming years. We’re also keen on collaborating with running clubs and sports events to promote an active lifestyle. Our ultimate aim is to popularize sports culture throughout India.”
This year, Asics India, known for its sportswear and footwear, witnessed a significant growth of 25 percent compared to the previous year. They are optimistic that their growth trend will continue as they expand their retail presence across the country.
