Indian designer Anavila Misra has unveiled her inaugural couture collection, ‘Aamod,’ just in time for the festive season. While Misra is widely recognized for her work with lightweight linens and saris, ‘Aamod’ marks her debut in the world of high fashion. The collection is an ode to bridalwear, featuring a range of exquisite pieces such as lehengas, saris, and kaftans, all meticulously crafted with Misra’s signature handwoven materials and understated design sensibilities.

What sets ‘Aamod’ apart is its emphasis on a timeless sense of elegance, eschewing excessive ornamentation in favor of the inherent beauty of the materials. The collection features a harmonious blend of khadi silks and linens, enriched with the intricate artistry of zari work. Traditional tie-dye techniques, known as leheriya, intertwine with prints inspired by Bundi miniature paintings from Rajasthan, adding a unique and artistic touch to the pieces. The designs also showcase khatwa appliquéd motifs and subtle embroideries, elevating each garment to a work of art.

The color palette in ‘Aamod’ draws inspiration from the ancient frescos of Bundi, a quaint town in the state of Rajasthan. It features a spectrum of shades, including deep blues, warm berries, soothing ivory, and vibrant yellows. The choice of colors reflects a deep connection to nature, with Misra describing it as her “teacher of simplicity.”

For fashion enthusiasts and brides-to-be, ‘Aamod’ offers a refined and graceful selection that pays homage to tradition while embracing the modern. It’s a collection that captures the essence of timeless bridal attire, marked by the serenity of natural materials and the mastery of handcrafted techniques. ‘Aamod’ is now available at the Anavila flagship store in Khar West, Mumbai, promising an enriching shopping experience for those seeking elegance and grace during the celebratory season.
