The significant turnout at the 2023 GTCO Fashion Weekend underscored the universal appeal of style and aesthetic, transcending race, ethnicity, color, and culture. Taking over Victoria Island in Lagos for a two-day extravaganza on Water Corporation Drive, the event marked the sixth edition of the GTCO Fashion Weekend, solidifying the fashion industry in Nigeria as a formidable sector garnering recognition from stakeholders across the board. As American Costume Designer Edith Head once said, “You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.”

Across its six editions, the fashion fair has not only become a showcase for diverse talents but has also emerged as an incubator for creativity and enterprise within the fashion retail landscape. This gathering brings together established African fashion brands with emerging labels, providing a platform for interaction with globally celebrated fashion icons and engaging style personalities.

The 2023 edition of this consumer-focused fair, with a primary goal of promoting enterprise, aimed to exhibit the best of Africa’s finest fashion to a global audience. The event featured insightful master classes, captivating runway shows, free stalls for 120 retailers, exhibitions, colorful facades, music, streetwear, and more.

Reflecting on the event, Segun Agbaje, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company plc, emphasized that fashion transcends mere clothing; it delves into emotions and creative expressions that resonate across different sectors. He highlighted how the GTCO Fashion Weekend continually evolves to mirror the rapid growth and sophistication of the global fashion industry. The event strives to tap into the boundless possibilities in fashion retail, creating positive outcomes for individuals, indigenous businesses, and communities at large. The GTCO Fashion Weekend stands not just as an annual event but as a dynamic force shaping the narrative of the fashion industry in Nigeria and beyond.
