Turkey Gym and Fitness Equipment Import Price in March 2023
In March 2023, the gym and fitness equipment price stood at $4,753 per ton (CIF, Turkey), increasing by 2.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 44% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,795 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to March 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($25,094 per ton), while the price for China stood at $2,828 per ton.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.6%).
Turkey Gym and Fitness Equipment Imports
Gym and fitness equipment imports into Turkey expanded remarkably to 782 tons in March 2023, picking up by 9.4% on the month before. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 with an increase of 118% against the previous month.
In value terms, gym and fitness equipment imports expanded notably to $3.7M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when imports increased by 48% m-o-m.
Turkey Gym and Fitness Equipment Imports by Country
In March 2023, China (671 tons) constituted the largest supplier of gym and fitness equipment to Turkey, accounting for a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, gym and fitness equipment imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (29 tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (21 tons), with a 2.7% share.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (-0.3% per month) and Hungary (+2.7% per month).
In value terms, China ($1.9M) constituted the largest supplier of gym and fitness equipment to Turkey, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($721K), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 4.9% share.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from China totaled -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Italy (+2.3% per month) and Slovakia (-3.4% per month).
