  • Adidas and Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto have unveiled the Y-3 line of running shoes.
  • The collection combines athletic functionality with avant-garde fashion and has four original footwear designs.
  • The Y-3 Boston 11, Y-3 Takumi Sen 9, Y-3 Ultraboost Light, and Y-3 Runner 4D FWD are included in the line of running shoes.

Adidas, a manufacturer of athletic clothing and footwear, and Yohji Yamamoto, a Japanese designer, have collaborated to launch the Y-3 series of performance running attire. Each item in the capsule collection is a reimagining of Adidas running items, resurrected through the avant-garde designer’s vision. It offers a fresh perspective on performance footwear, clothes, and accessories.

According to a press release from Adidas, the running shoe line includes four distinct designs with brushstroke Three Stripes and Yohji Yamamoto signature details: the Y-3 Boston 11, Y-3 Takumi Sen 9, Y-3 Ultraboost Light, and the Y-3 Runner 4D FWD.

“While fashion seeks the contrary, the sports industry and its technologies look for need, practicality, or utility […]. The tension that results from blending tradition with all that is new is examined in Y-3 in a compelling way, according to Yohji.

Intimate vignettes that provide a look into in-between moments of stop are used in a series of moving visuals that accompany the collection’s debut. These images were filmed around upstate and metropolitan New York and portray the raw feelings of running, according to the press release.

Adidas’ online store and a few chosen shops worldwide are selling the first Y-3 running shoe assortment.
