The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), in collaboration with CITI, hosted the 8th FMC Award for Responsible BMOs (Textiles and Apparels) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, celebrating excellence in sustainability and responsible business practices.
“The FMC Award for Responsible BMOs acknowledges organizations driving environmental sustainability, social impact, and governance. These awards encourage Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) to lead the MSME sector toward a more inclusive and resilient future,” said Amit Pande, Chief Operating Officer, FMC.
With over 130 BMOs representing 40,000 MSMEs applying for this prestigious recognition, the event highlighted best practices in sustainability and responsible business growth. The awards were presented by Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles, Mr. Pabitra Margherita.
Award Winners: Recognizing Sustainable & Social Impact Initiatives
National/State/Regional Level
Haryana Environmental Management Society (HEMS) – Promoting Green Environment
- Represents 4,550 industrial units across Haryana.
- Established a Common Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF) in Faridabad for eco-friendly hazardous waste management.
- Conducts environmental awareness programs, health camps, and sustainability competitions.
Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ITAMMA) – Promoting Social Issues
- Represents 405 enterprises in Maharashtra.
- Initiated the B.K. Mehta Technology Networking Mission – 2030 to foster innovation in textile engineering.
- Bridges industry-academia gaps, funds R&D, and promotes employment in textile technology.
District/Cluster Level
Jayadev Banana Farmers and Artisans Association – Promoting Green Environment
- Focuses on Banana Fibre and Bio-Fertilizer to reduce synthetic yarn and chemical fertilizer usage.
Nitya Sangha Mahila SHG Cooperative Society – Promoting Social Issues
- Leads women empowerment initiatives by facilitating bank loans for Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
FMC & EU’s Switch Asia Initiative for Textile Recycling
The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), in collaboration with Switch Asia – European Union, is advancing sustainability in India’s textile recycling clusters.
Key Highlights:
- India processes 2 million tons of textile waste annually.
- Panipat, Bhojpur, and Amroha handle 60% of India’s textile waste, exporting 33% of recycled products to Europe, the USA, and the UK.
- Panipat to be developed as a global hub for sustainable textiles.
- Digital Product Passport to enhance transparency in waste management and curb greenwashing.
- Technology upgrades, skill enhancement, and green financing for MSMEs.
- Impacting 14,800 MSMEs and 250,000 workers.
Additionally, FMC, with HSBC and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is working on decarbonization and green business models to improve traceability, resource efficiency, and profitability in Panipat’s textile recycling sector.
These initiatives reinforce India’s commitment to circular economy, sustainable production, and responsible business practices in the textile industry.
